Payment Protection Insurance

What exactly is PPI?

PPI stands for Payment Protection Insurance, and it is sold to you at the same time you take out a credit agreement. The idea behind PPI is that, if you are unable to make a payment on your credit agreement due to accidents, unemployment, or sickness, then you are protected.

How could you be eligible?

If you have ever taken out any of the following, then it’s likely you were offered, and unwittingly agreed to, PPI;

  • A UK mortgage
  • An overseas mortgage
  • A credit card
  • A personal loan (e.g. for a car of kitchen refurb)
  • A debt consolidation

You are then eligible for a refund on this PPI if you only took it out because you were lied to or forced into purchasing it. It was first ruled that you are eligible to claim back your PPI when the government and Office of Fair Trading took a deeper look into the terms surrounding it.

When’s the deadline?

The government has now set a deadline for when you can make a claim on mis-sold PPI. That date is 29th August 2019.

How do you get started?

Working with an experienced firm such as ourselves is the fastest and most effective way to ensure you claim back on your mis-sold PPI. We have already helped UK citizens take back millions of pounds of what is rightfully theirs, and are looking to help even more before the approaching deadline in 2019.

Packaged Bank Account

What are PBAs

PBAs, Packaged Bank Accounts, are bank accounts which require you to pay an annual or monthly fee. Depending on your provider, PBAs are often referred to as Premium, Reward or Upgrade accounts. Either way, it can cost hundreds of pounds each year to hold one of these accounts, and in return, you are open to certain benefits or reward schemes.

Why could you be owed a refund?

PBAs sound like a nice idea at first, but over time it has become apparent that they are actually pretty useless. The so-called "benefits" that banks use to warrant paying for an account often amount to little more than empty promises. In many cases, account holders are unable to claim their rewards or find that the rewards aren’t exclusive in any way. It has also transpired that customers have been sold PBAs without their knowledge of having done so. You could be eligible for a claim if you fit any of the following criteria:

  • When you were sold a PBA, you didn't have all your options explained to you.
  • You were lied to about the rewards of having a PBA.
  • When signing up, you were already covered for the benefits listed.
  • You have tried to access the rewards of your PBA but have been denied by the bank.

How to make a claim

A report carried out by the FCA (Financial Conduct Authority) found that 56% of people who had made a claim for mis-sold bank accounts were unsatisfied with the outcome. This is largely because banks are unwilling to refund account holders and take responsibility for wrongfully selling and overpromising on a poor service. That’s where we come in.

Since the PBA scandal has been announced, we have worked with a large number of clients all across the UK who have been mis-sold bank accounts from lenders. We understand the necessary procedures and fight to receive a fair outcome for all our clients. So far we have successfully recovered millions, but we know there are more people who need our help.
